Pet Ultrasound
A non-invasive way to diagnose sick & injured pets.
By partnering with Veterinary Specialist Care we can offer veterinary ultrasounds for pets. Veterinary Specialist Care is a mobile internal medicine practice, providing advanced diagnostic ultrasonography, endoscopy, and case consultation by Dr Amanda Traub.
Dr. Amanda Traub grew up in southern Louisiana. She graduated from the Louisiana School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She completed a small animal rotating internship in her hometown of Mandeville, Louisiana at MedVet Mandeville. She completed a 3-year Internal Medicine Residency also at MedVet Mandeville/New Orleans Louisiana. She completed both the Small Animal Internal Medicine General and Specialty examinations as part of the ACVIM credentialing process. In the Fall of 2014, she moved to Virginia Beach to work at a local referral center in the internal medicine department. She worked at the referral center for about 8 years before transitioning to mobile internal medicine services. Dr. Traub took over Dr. Kremer’s mobile internal medicine-based consultation and ultrasound practice in June 2023.
The mobile nature of Veterinary Specialist Care allows for convenient specialty services within the family veterinarian’s practice, helping eliminate the stress of travel for both pet and pet owner, and offering truly collaborative care for pets

How does ultrasound work?
When the sound waves penetrate the body, they “bounce” back. The ultrasound machine measures the time it takes for a sound wave to bounce back and creates an image.
What conditions can be diagnosed by ultrasound?
Some injuries and conditions that can be identified via ultrasound include:
- Bladder and kidney stones
- Gastrointestinal obstructions
- Pregnancy
- Cysts and tumors
- Heart conditions
Ultrasound also allows us to safely collect biopsy and fluid samples without having to perform invasive surgeries.
If your pet is showing signs of illness or injury, call us at (757) 487-1333 to schedule an appointment. An ultrasound may be able to assist in diagnosing the problem.
